Sydney is a core hub for Optiver’s APAC trading business, with a focus on equity options across key Asian markets including Japan, Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan. Teams operate across markets with different structures and levels of maturity, requiring strategies and systems that adapt quickly to local market conditions

Quantitative strategies play an increasing role in how we trade in Sydney. The office has invested heavily in machine learning and high-performance computing, including dedicated GPU capacity to accelerate model training and iteration. Alongside this, we continue to invest in risk and execution to support consistent performance in live markets.

Much of Optiver’s proprietary trading system has been engineered in Sydney. These systems are designed to handle differences in market structure, liquidity and regulation without sacrificing performance. The office has also played a key role in expanding into newer and more complex APAC markets, while contributing to shared platforms used across the business.
