Head of Tax

Optiver is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Head of Tax with experience in international tax. As the Head of Tax you will play a key role in strategic business initiatives and complex international tax structure, all while supporting and directing a team of talented tax professionals.


What you’ll do:

  • Oversee and direct the tax function and tax planning/vision for US and UK entities and collaborate with Parent and affiliate tax groups, providing technical tax support for proprietary trading, physical asset and business operations
  • Drive a continuous improvement mindset across all tax department activities; identify new opportunities to add value to the business
  • Research, resolve, and liaise with tax consultants
  • Lead ongoing structure and transfer pricing initiatives, manage intercompany arrangements between affiliates
  • Manage tax multi-state, multi-national, and indirect (sales and use/VAT) tax compliance—own successful completion of returns, filings, provisions, estimates and allocations
  • Monitor tax law changes
  • Develop, mentor and support direct reports
  • Manage ongoing efforts for effective internal controls in a dynamic environment
  • Collaborate with the Head of Finance to streamline financial reporting support, tax accounting and disclosures
  • Work with Legal, HR, and Business Leads on strategic business initiatives
  • Effective communication to management on complex tax issues
  • Responsible for audits of federal, state and local filings
  • Partner with the payroll function for employee-related tax items, including T&E and stock-based compensation
  • Manage special projects

 

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, MBA or Masters in Taxation, preferred
  • CPA certification required
  • 10-15 years of experience in a position that has managed tax deliverables and tax projects
  • Experience with structuring and transfer pricing required
  • Experience with federal and state compliance for corporations required
  • Strong track record of identifying and implementing process improvement and control monitoring
  • Experience managing a team, projects, and processes
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated, detail oriented individual able to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Experience with sales and use/local tax and VAT a plus
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; we will not sponsor individuals for employment authorization for this job opening
