The Optiver Foundation

Creating meaningful impact

The Optiver Foundation is a global non-profit organisation committed to funding practical, enduring solutions that spur environmental action and promote diversity. Drawing on our heritage, we believe in the power of science, technology and education as transformative tools to drive positive changes for our global community.

Charting a path to positive change

The Optiver Foundation has a distinct focus as we respond to some of the critical challenges confronting our world today. We support initiatives that address ecological sustainability and advocate for access to education as a pathway to equal opportunities. We aim to create an impactful legacy, ensuring a safer, healthier and more inclusive future for generations to come.

Environmental action

Environmental action is a prerequisite to achieving a prosperous and sustainable future for all. From reforestation to water conservation to reducing carbon emissions, we seek to play an active role in helping reverse the impact of climate change.

Diversity

An inclusive and diverse workforce fosters a culture of trust and respect and strengthens our ability to innovate and thrive. We all have a role to play in creating equal opportunities for others. One way is through increasing access to education. In many parts of the world, talented young people lack opportunity. We can change this by empowering future generations through access to learning opportunities.

Scholarship programme with Oxford University

The Optiver Foundation has partnered with Oxford University to launch an international scholarship programme, that’s focussed on supporting women, from low and middle-income countries, to access STEM education at a postgraduate level. The programme will provide support for 30 master’s students over a period of five years. Scholars will receive full financial support for their course fees, as well as a stipend to cover living costs. The programme will also enable scholars to access tailored induction activities, mentoring and on-course support.

Providing equal opportunity to STEM

The Optiver Foundation has joined forces with Women Win to develop ‘Stemming the Gap: the Free STEM Fund.’ The fund envisions providing grants to youth-led, women-led and community-based organisations, social enterprises and educational institutions in the global south (including Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Oceania). Women Win will manage the fund using its unique approach to inclusive and participatory philanthropy.

Reforestation with Land Life

In collaboration with Land Life, a tech-driven reforestation organisation, the Optiver Foundation completed three reforestation initiatives predicted to capture around 70,000 tonnes of CO2, offsetting Optiver’s historical carbon emissions from 1986 to 2020. While this marks the end of our partnership, we are proud of what we have achieved and look forward to seeing the continued positive impacts of our joint endeavours on the environment and local communities.
