Optiver’s combination of cutting-edge technology and innovative engineers contributes greatly to our success, but we cannot stand still.  We are investing heavily in IT by continually improving our in-house trading systems for market making and arbitrage.

Responsibilities

·         Positions available on three development teams:

o    Market Connectivity: Responsible for building, modifying, and monitoring connections to exchanges with high performance and availability requirements.  Low-level C++, clean coding principles, and object-oriented design are used extensively on this team.

o    Trading User Interfaces: Designs and develops high performance C# UIs for controlling Optiver’s trading system and monitoring market activity.  Works closely with traders to refactor, rebuild, and simplify existing UIs to meet Optiver Chicago’s unique business priorities.

o    Business Intelligence: Designs and develops data collection, analysis, and monitoring software utilizing C#, SQL, and web technologies to help traders understand the performance of their systems and business support teams monitor compliance, risk, and Optiver’s interaction with third parties.

·         Develop understanding of Optiver’s core business strategies and leverage that knowledge to better analyze, improve, and create software.

·         Participate in design and code reviews, create and perform automated unit and functional tests, and solve production problems in a team-oriented environment.

Requirements

·         BS/MS in Computer Science or related software development field

·         Depth in C/C++, C#, or Java; experience with web technologies (Javascript, AJAX, HTML5, Python) a plus

·         Strong understanding of Computer Science concepts including algorithms, data structures, multiprocessing, object oriented design patterns, and clean coding principles

·         Familiarity with machine and operating system architecture

·         Innovative mind with a desire to create, understand, and continuously improve cutting edge trading systems

·         Strong interest in working in a proprietary trading firm

·         Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
