Windows Application Specialist


What you'll do
As a Windows Application Specialist, your job is to maintain (trading) applications on the Windows platform. You are responsible for the availability and performance of those applications. The Windows Application Specialist works in a team of application specialists.
The Windows platform environment consists of Windows 2000/2003 servers and windows XP clients with office- and company specific applications. To gather application requirements the Windows Application Specialist is in close contact with the trading organisation. Responsibilities include managing and escalating changes and problems towards software vendors and in-house development.

Tasks

  • Maintain a group of applications throughout their lifecycle (including installation, configuration, roll-out, upgrade etc);
  • Availability, performance and monitoring of those applications;
  • Creating MSI packages for client side installation
  • Documentation of applications

What we need

  • Knowledge and experience in maintaining client-server software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft server and client systems on MCSE level
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience at this level
  • Basic knowledge of networks and network protocols
  • Basic knowledge of server- and client hardware
  • Good communication and reporting kills
  • Pro-active, structured and analytical
Preffered
  • Experience with scripting (command line and Perl)
  • Experience with MSI packaging
  • Knowledge of the ‘financial world’
