Training & Development

One of Optiver's core values is to see each employee reach his/her full potential, thereby enabling them to strive for excellence in everything they do. In fulfilling this vision, we have initiated the Optiver Academy, a global in-house training and development programme. This benefit is available to starters as well as existing employees; key individuals, Team leaders, or those holding Management positions within Optiver.

All Optiver starters

• An Introduction day which allows for a better understanding of all the departments within Optiver and to get a taste for what we do.
• A starter's lunch is organised with Optiver's chairman Johann Kaemingk and our European managing director Hans Pieterse.
• Trading for Non traders training is a great way to enable all non trader employees to gain an in-depth understanding and the opportunity to experience what our traders do.
• Optiver is an extremely diverse company with over 35 nationalities, our cultural training has been initiated to help bring about cultural awareness and understanding.

Traders

For all traders it is mandatory to complete our trader training:
The first three weeks will consist of theory, during which several departments will give a presentation about their work within Optiver and how it is related to trading.
After the first three weeks the trainee will start trading at a trainee spot for a month with the guidance of a senior trader.

Traders may only officially start trading once they have completed several exams related to exchanges on which they are going to trade. Only upon successful completion of these exams can the trader trade on these exchanges.

IT

Application Management
The training of our junior Application Engineers consists of a full 3 month programme:
• Trading basics in 3 stages: basic understanding of derivatives, basic understanding the financial markets & training of realtime trading within Optiver.
• Setting up and working in a Linux environment.
• Workshop to set up a complete working trading system.

After the 3 month period, training will continue on the job.
