What makes us different?

The quality of our staff and their commitment to the company is something that differentiates us from our competitors. We believe that it is good to offer a very pleasant work environment and excellent secondary benefits, but in the end it is the camaraderie and connection that people have internally which makes Optiver tick.

Standing still in our business is not an option. Optiver employees go a stage further than just understanding this – they embrace it. Having the right people on the right spots and providing the tools for our people to get an even better understanding of the business as a whole is very important to us. Research, innovation and the initiation of new ideas by our staff enable us to stand strong as a firm and ride out any recession.

Optiver started in 1986 with just one Dutch trader on the floor in Amsterdam but is now a company that employs around 600 people of over 35 nationalities in offices on four continents. As a result, our company is a melting pot of cultures, behaviours and habits. But despite the strong, international growth we have always managed to maintain a highly informal atmosphere and relatively flat organisational structure. And for a reason - as we believe this provides our employees with the flexibility they need to be creative, to research their ideas and to act upon them.
