Optiver Amsterdam

In Europe the sysadmin team manages the configuration of hundreds of non-Windows computers. These range from highly tuned trading machines to back office settlement servers, from workstations to wiki servers and beyond. Each of these systems has up to 100 configuration settings for defining who can use it, back up policy, the software versions it must run etc etc. So complex stuff! Clearly software should be used to manage this complexity and the open source project Puppet has proven to provide a scalable, reliable and flexible solution.
Optiver is therefore privileged to be able to help the people behind Puppet organise a European Puppet Camp in Ghent, Belgium in the Spring of 2010. This will be a chance for the various developers and users to meet and e.g. learn how to make the most of Puppet, join a Q and A with the core developers, work on new features and have lots more nerdy fun. Discussions continue but Optiver hopes to help with some of the costs and provide local info to make their conference a success.
